Redtops may be looked down on by broadsheet fans, but if there’s one thing they do brilliantly, it’s attention grabbing headlines. Not just that, if you want to see the best example of how a picture and a caption can tell a story, look no further than a newspaper.

There are two sides to every story, and there are two ways to tell it. You can report by explaining the facts and leaving your reader to make up their own mind: or you can review it and provide your reader with greater context, opinion and influence.

As a freelance journalist, I’ve been lucky enough to meet and interview some amazing people; eat and stay at phenomenal places and write about it. And because I’ve been on both sides of the press partition, I know how to tempt as well as be tempted.

Don’t just take my word for it

East Kent Lifestyle is a luxury lifestyle magazine for, and about, the people, the attractions, the businesses and visitors to glorious East Kent. I’m a Maid of Kent and so I was delighted to be asked to write for Issue 39, alongside Ryan Reynolds no less.

I asked Pete Nichols, co-founder and director at PSA Publishing Ltd to feedback on my article, which you’ll find on pages 22 and 23.
